Flicka Miss McCue (Flicka)
Flicka Miss McCue (Flicka) was sold to the Gold Mine Ranch, Bemidji, Minnesota, in the winter of 2004. Owners Joe Waslaski and Kris Klasen have been riding and showing horses for years, so when they found one of our mares on the sale list, they jumped at the chance to buy her!
Flicka is one of the mares we raised out of Keith's personal horse, Georgia. She was started and roped off by Keith, our son Tylor, and numerous others. She is an excellent head horse with determination and a big heart.
Kris Klasen took her home and knew right away she had the makings of an excellent barrel/pole horse. She foaled her out in February and started working patterns shortly after, competing in her first AQHA show in March. Flicka was a natural in speed events and started placing right away.
In July, Flicka and Kris went to the four-day AQHA show in Proctor, Minnesota. Flicka won the Open Poles all four days and took second in the Open Barrels all four days. She won her first buckle and High Point at an Open Show in August of 2004, placing in events we had never run before. On September 25-26, 2004, Kris took Flicka to the AQHA Show in Valley City, North Dakota. They did an excellent job. As if placing second in open barrels and first in open poles the first day wasn't enough, she went on the next day to place first in open poles, second in amateur barrels, and second in amateur poles.
On October 16-17, 2004, Kris and Flicka competed in another AQHA show in Valley City, where she placed first in amateur barrels, second in open barrels, first in open poles and second in amateur poles. Flicka received her first AQHA Open R.O.M. after this exciting weekend of placings and is well on her way to earning her AQHA Amateur R.O.M.
Kris and Flicka competed in the Verndale All Breed Horse Show Winter Series in October, November, and December and took home High Point in their division at all three shows and earned the overall High Point Buckle for the series!
Flicka won the 2004 Minnesota Quarter Horse Association Year End Awards for Open Poles, Amateur Poles, and Amateur Barrels and tied for first in Open Barrels.
Flicka received an award from AQHA for placing ninth in the nation in limited amateur poles and eighth in the nation in limited amateur barrels in 2004.
